New workshops during the Easter standard

The Easter is near and the Barcelona Academy of Art has organized three new workshops. Each of them lasts for 5 days because they are destined to those who, because of a lack of time, can’t join a longer program at the academy. The programmed workshops are the following: –Human figure drawing: Drawing is the basic tool for the development of all artistic activity and allows the student to reach a solid technic and theoretical basis. Pencil drawing helps practicing the development of a sketch in which gesture, proportion and precision are analyzed. Painting Program at BAA standard

In the course of this term, second year students have finished the drawing program to begin painting. On the one side, traditional painting students are working on the still life by copying classic casts and the oil painting technique. At the same time, they also work on the first painting long poses. First, with a grissaille exercise that works as a natural impasse from charcoal to oil, to later introduce color with a reduced colors palette. The Pixar exhibition arrives to Barcelona standard

Last 5th of February was the inauguration of The Pixar Art Exhibition. 25 Years of Animation in Barcelona. Saturdays of portrait at Parisii Bistrot standard

Two Saturdays per month, some BAA students with anybody that wants to have a good time meet to enjoy an evening of portrait with live model in the Parisii Bistrot. Sessions go on for three hours with shifts every 25 minutes and cost 10 euros that include the fees for the model, a drink, paper and pencil. If the participant wishes to, can bring its own material, for example to make a painting alla prima. Every weekend the model varies and the setup (pose and illumination) is based in those of XIXth century ateliers. Díaz Alamà and students at the Barcelona Academy of Art’s exhibition @ La Destil·leria (Mataró) standard

  From 7 February to 18 March a selection of works by painter Jordi Diaz Alamà's and students at the Barcelona Academy of Art will be exhibited at La Destil·leria (Mataro). The exhibition at La Destil·leria is not a collective exhibition, but a choral show of the work of the artists. News from the BAA standard

The Barcelona Academy of Art keeps working to offer a program of study as complete as possible for students. To this end, the academy has incorporated a new subject, Copy of great masters, that complements the anatomy lessons tauht by the teacher Terra Chapman. In this subject, students practise the study of the human figure by studying and copying drawings made by classic artists. This kind of exercice aims to work new methods of observation external to the sight-size, and to learn to analyse the expressive language of the different artists. Academies at MNAC standard

During this last six months, MNAC (Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya) has been working in the remodeling of its permanent collection of modern art to give a new perspective to the rooms about this artistic period do important in Catalonia. The exposition is divided in four themed spheres: The Rise of the Modern Artist, Modernism(s), Noucentisme(s), and Art and Civil War. To take advantage of this restructuring, the museum has decided to bring to light a big quantity of works, near 900, that were until now in the warehouse. After the Christmas festivities, the Barcelona Academy of Art reopens its doors to start the lessons of the second term. New for the 2015, the school counts with a new subject: Marketing for artists, taught by the teachers Eduard De Vicente, Bill Jiménez and Belén Vacas. The BAA is focused in the practical side of art but also in the theoretic aspects of the artistic world. Christmas Holidays at the BAA standard

Last week, the lessons for the first term at the Barcelona Academy of Art got to their end, and after three months of work come the well-deserved Christmas holidays. The Academy will be closed for two weeks to prepare new spaces such as a portrait room. We wish you happy holidays from the BAA. See you the 7th of January! La semana pasada terminaron las clases del primer trimestre en la Barcelona Academy of Art y tras tres meses de trabajo han llegado las merecidas vacaciones de Navidad. Christmas Market standard

The arrival of December to our calendars means that there are little days left to the start of the Christmas festivities, and this year the Barcelona Academy of Art is going to open its doors to a new experience. On Saturday, the 20th from 11 am to 19 pm a Christmas market will take place at the BAA in which students and teachers will exhibe and sell some of the works that they have created on the academic level as well as on the personal.
