Díaz Alamà and students at the Barcelona Academy of Art’s exhibition @ La Destil·leria (Mataró) standard

The exhibition at La Destil·leria is not a collective exhibition, but a choral show of the work of the artists. News from the BAA standard

The Barcelona Academy of Art keeps working to offer a program of study as complete as possible for students. To this end, the academy has incorporated a new subject, Copy of great masters, that complements the anatomy lessons tauht by the teacher Terra Chapman. In this subject, students practise the study of the human figure by studying and copying drawings made by classic artists. This kind of exercice aims to work new methods of observation external to the sight-size, and to learn to analyse the expressive language of the different artists. Academies at MNAC standard

During this last six months, MNAC (Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya) has been working in the remodeling of its permanent collection of modern art to give a new perspective to the rooms about this artistic period do important in Catalonia. The exposition is divided in four themed spheres: The Rise of the Modern Artist, Modernism(s), Noucentisme(s), and Art and Civil War. To take advantage of this restructuring, the museum has decided to bring to light a big quantity of works, near 900, that were until now in the warehouse. After the Christmas festivities, the Barcelona Academy of Art reopens its doors to start the lessons of the second term. New for the 2015, the school counts with a new subject: Marketing for artists, taught by the teachers Eduard De Vicente, Bill Jiménez and Belén Vacas. Christmas Holidays at the BAA standard

Last week, the lessons for the first term at the Barcelona Academy of Art got to their end, and after three months of work come the well-deserved Christmas holidays. The Academy will be closed for two weeks to prepare new spaces such as a portrait room. We wish you happy holidays from the BAA. See you the 7th of January! Christmas Market standard

The arrival of December to our calendars means that there are little days left to the start of the Christmas festivities, and this year the Barcelona Academy of Art is going to open its doors to a new experience. On Saturday, the 20th from 11 am to 19 pm a Christmas market will take place at the BAA in which students and teachers will exhibe and sell some of the works that they have created on the academic level as well as on the personal. Écorche with Terra Chapman standard

Écorché is the last of the new subjects that joined the academy program in November and it takes place every Thursday from 17:30 to 20:30. The Écorché classes are taught by teacher Terra Chapman and during a whole academic year students build their own anatomic model with clay. This subject is planned for students to learn the human anatomy in a deep and specific way. To do so, the same method as the French Academies of the 19th century is used: it starts from a wire structure with which students sculpt with detail all the bones, muscles and fat that form the human body. Digital sculpting and concept design standard

Digital sculpting and concept design is a subject taught by David Masson every wednesday from 17:30 pm to 20:30 pm and there students learn to design and model creatures and characters using Zbrush as a main software. Zbrush is a 3D software used by digital artists in cinema, animation, video games and illustration (among others). The process of sculpting in the program is very intuitive, and works in a very similar way to traditional sculpture. New subjects in November standard

With the arrival of November, the academy starts for the first time new subjects that complete the current program by offering a wider range for students. This subjects are digital sculpture with Zbrush, Écorché and Life figure modeling. Life figure modeling is a subject taught by Sara Stenlund every monday at the academy. The classes are planned for the students of the Barcelona Academy of Art to learn sculpting from a live model, which eases a better understanding of the anatomy and the spatial sense. Halloween in BAA standard

With the end of October comes Halloween, and with the fall of the night, the Barcelona Academy of Art transformes as a werewolf to welcome the witches' night. During the last hours of the 31th of October, the academy put aside its normal appearance to fill its rooms with spiderwebs, skeletons, pumpkins and other kinds of typical decorations of this celebration. When the lessons finished, students and teachers went to the dressing rooms to put themselves on the skin of diferent horror characters and the party was inaugurated. The terrorific and artistic night of Halloween at the academy had a DJ that enlivened the event, one magician that left the attendees mouth open with his “tricks”, and, of course, the “treat” ...
